Ambulance Transport from UBCH to VGH

For any UBCH to VGH transfers from the Operating Room or PACU, the responsible anesthesiologist (intraop/POA/U1) needs to personally contact Patient Transfer Network (PTN) at 604-215-5911.
-
Press 1 for urgent/emergent transfers (LLTO) when prompted.
-
You need to inform the PTN coordinator that it is a RED transfer and that a BLS crew is sufficient (provided that a physician/nurse will escort and be responsible for en route patient care).
-
ACLS drugs/ventilators/infusion pump/defibrillators/physiologic monitors are not stocked on BLS vehicles; if they are required, hospital equipment will need to be utilized.
-
PTN requires a PHN, patient weight, detailed description of monitors, and infusions as well as contact precautions or psychiatric concerns in order to initiate transport – ensure that these details are available when calling.
-
In order to obtain an ETA, request that PTN operator bring BC Ambulance (PTCC or Patient Transport Coordination Center) to the line.
